Privacy policy for Flotato (as downloaded from Flotato.com)
Logins, passwords and cookies
- Flotato does not store, transmit, or retrieve logins or passwords. That means putting in your password when you're logging in to an app with Flotato is safe.
- Flotato uses Apple's WebKit. That means you're protected by Apple's famously strict privacy with the same technology as when you're using Safari.
- When you enter your credentials, WebKIt - not Flotato - encrypts and sends your login and password to the web service's servers, which then asks WebKit to create a cookie in a completely sealed off container on your Mac.
- Cookies - such as login cookies, tracking cookies, never leave your computer. As an app, Flotato doesn't have access to the sealed off cookies store, neither do other apps on your Mac.
Fully anonymized usage stats
Flotato collects the following types of information. This information helps us figure out what to build next, and which features we should pay extra attention to.
- How many times in average Flotato is used per day
- How many new apps are created
- We do not store each URL visited with Flotato. Your browser history never leaves your computer.
- In some situations, we do store the app's name as it appears under the icon. We do this to understand which apps we should optimize for. We cannot track an app name to a specific user, nor do we want to, ever.
- We use Mixpanel to store and analyze the anonymous statistics.
